Earlsfield

Map of Earlsfield

Predominantly a residential area, Earlsfield is more ?low key? London. With some trendy neighbours to contend with such as Wandsworth Common and Balham, Earlsfield is slowly climbing the ranks as a popular area to live with the younger, trendier crowd. Due to this rise in popularity recognisable high street brands are beginning to pop-up in Earlsfield such as Carluccios and Cafe Nerro, adding to this areas ever-growing laid back feel. The areas name comes from, rather simply, a house. Back in the day (late 1800's) when the railway people wanted to put a station in the area they built it in the place of a Victorian house. When the owners of said house sold it to them, they did so under the condition that the station be named after the house. And so as the area grew and built up around the station, the name stuck. Earlsfield is also conveniently situated near to Wimbledon Stadium; the Stadium is a huge entertainment venue that holds greyhound and stock car racing as its main draws, and with so many pubs and restaurants to choose from in the area you won?t be short of entertainment before and after a race either! On a visit to Earlsfield it is easy to see why people like the slow pace of life here, coupled with the benefit of fantastic transport links.
