Borough Markets

Map of Borough Markets

If you love food, then without a doubt Borough Markets is a must-visit when in London. Borough Markets is London?s oldest food market and has become the fashionable place in the city to purchase food, selling an extensive variety of produce from all over the world. Popular with tourists, there is no denying this market is busy and noisy as hundreds flock to purchase the produce on sale which includes fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, game and freshly baked bread and pastries ? but it?s also not hard to see why so many head there as you weave through the maze of stalls each offering you tasters and samples of their fresh produce. The food sold here is of the highest quality, with some stalls selling expensive and sought after delicacies. The market stallholders are extremely proud of their produce and are more than happy to tell you where they are sourced from and how to make the most of them. Don?t worry, however, as there is more than enough tasty and reasonably prized treats to be had ranging from freshly cooked venison burgers to the huge portions of homemade chocolate brownies! If the market is not enough to satisfy, just explore the surrounding streets where you will come across a fabulous collection of shops, bars and wonderful restaurants. This area is so vibrant and rich in atmosphere and colours that it has also been a popular choice for film directors with the market featuring in Bridget Jones Diary, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Harry Potter. Our best advice regarding Borough Markets is to simply go and discover it for yourself, you will not be disappointed and neither will your tummy!
